Port To Rome Transfers? Airport Transfers?

Greetings all:

Trying to get best info available for transfers from airport to Rome (staying at Hotel Columbus right outside Vatican Gates, and also from there to port and back again post cruise.

Any suggestions (avoiding the costly private transfers) would be greatly appreciated !!

If suggesting the train, how much walking is involved? (lots of luggage to consider).

Thanks in advance for any help and Happy Cruising !!

Ciao...nolacruisers!

There's a frequent train connection between Da Vinci Airport to Stazione Termini, Rome's main train station. At the Stazione Termini you'll need to take a taxi because of all your luggage ;) , to your hotel near the Vatican Gates.

On your cruise departure day, take the train from Stazione San Pietro which is very close, and within walking distance from your hotel. I'd suggest you ask your hotel for assistance in carrying your luggage.

Upon arriving at the Civitavecchia train station, look for a taxi at the entrance/exit of the train station, (it's a very small station) and a very short ride to the cruise pier.

On your return, take a taxi from the cruise pier to the Civitacchia train station, take the train to Stazione Termini in Rome. You'll need to transfer to the train that goes to the Da Vinci Airport)

We found the train to be easiest and least costly way to get from Rome to Civitavecchia and back again to Rome at the end of your cruise.

Ciao!

:)

PS. Don't forget to "validate" your ticket at one of those little ticket machines at the train station, because if you don't....you may get a fine!
