Port of New Orleans Security Check (allowable items) Question?

On the Elation 12/24/2012. Driving in, live just an hour away. Wondering if port security is the same as airport security with Cigar Lighters. Can I carry on my Cigar cutter and Lighter or can I put it in checked luggage?

Port security does not care about cigarette lighters. Knives with a short blade, like a penknife will also have no problem. They get nervous about larger pocket knives. You should be fine.

Security at the port is much different than what you will encounter at the airport. I bring my cutter and lighters and put them in my checked luggage. Never had a problem. There is no rule against lighters like at the airport.
