hannibal54 Posted October 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2012 We are suppose to be in Bermuda on Monday October 29. Could somebody who lives there keep us posted on Sandy. We sail out of NYC on Saturday. Thanks.
sousak78 Posted October 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 23, 2012 Will do! If it makes you feel better, it doesn't "feel" like hurricane weather - humidity is pretty low and the temps are in the high 70's. If we get anything, it will probably be another Rafael - lots of rain, not much wind. Time will tell. Safe travels.

Langoustine Posted October 24, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 24, 2012 There are two potential tracks, and one of them takes it directly toward Bermuda: http://www.weather.com/news/weather-hurricanes/tropics-scenarios-us-threat-20121022?pageno=

sousak78 Posted October 25, 2012 #10 Share Posted October 25, 2012 Looks like Sandy has decided to make a turn towards the East Coast instead. Not sure if this will still affect your itinerary. They're predicting rough seas and strong winds for the island this weekend as a result of her passing by so if your ship does sail, you might want to bring some seasickness pills with you (if you are susceptible to that sort of thing). Good luck!
Langoustine Posted October 25, 2012 #11 Share Posted October 25, 2012 Yes, it now looks like we're going to get hit instead of Bermuda, but I suspect, like sousak78, that you're going to be in for a rough ride. The latest forecast calls for gale force winds, heavy rain, and possibly snow, beginning Sunday morning: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57540360/hurricane-sandy-may-slam-into-u.s-east-coast-as-halloween-week-frankenstorm/
hannibal54 Posted October 26, 2012 Author #12 Share Posted October 26, 2012 It is now official, we will not be sailing to Bermuda this weekend. They said that they are looking towards the north for a port which means Canada. We would still have to get back to NY next Wed. We were looking forward to it because we had never been to Bermuda.
