No Carnival departures from Norfolk in 2014

Carnival gave up their Bermuda pier berths for 2013/14. Lets hope for 2015. We love cruising to Bermuda and we love cruising from Norfolk.

Would love to be able to do a Norfolk to Bermuda cruise.

yes!

We did the 6 night Bermuda cruise from Norfolk a year ago and would love to do that again, but really want more than just over 24 hours in port there. We are considering the 6 or 7 night to Bermuda on Royal from Baltimore but cruising from Norfolk is so much easier for us.

Sorry to bump this but thought it better to do that then start a new thread. So there are no carnival sailings from Norfolk in 2014 still (saw someone say the schedule was supposed to be out)? We are taking a CTN at the end of this month, but if all goes we'll we were looking possibly at another cruise and Norfolk is very convenient for us.

The schedule still isn't out.

Thanks for the info.

So seven months after this original post was made and it still isn't? Do they normally wait this late to post it? I mean don't people normally plan cruises far in advance?

I know when I was looking for the CTNs for 2013, they posted really late (in my opinion).

Several years ago there were several cruise lines sailing from Norfolk. Celebrity, RC, Holland, and Carnival. Wonder why so few now? It seems shorter to sail from Norfolk to the Caribbean or the Bahamas. I really miss all those ships. I wonder why they moved? Norfolk built a beautiful cruise center mostly used for events like meetings and weddings now.

I totally agree with you beacha........cruising out of Norfolk is wonderful and the port could host large ships.......wish I knew why everyone except Carnival pulled out! Doesn't make sense! Glad Carnival is hanging in there -we will definitely continue to cruise out of Norfolk!!!:)

When I called Carnival to make my reservationfr thus October they say Carnival is only departing from Norfolk during May and October. It seems that they post their sailing a year in advanced so hopefully this will be up soon

As far as I'm concerned, even Carnival has pulled out of Norfolk. A handful of cruises in May and October barely count.

I read somewhere on here that Norfolk costs too much for the ships to port at. My personal thought is it has to do with the sucky infrastructure in the port area for embarking/debarking a cruise ship worth of people and parking.

The ships were sailing full, but the yields (income from booze, casinos, etc) were low. At the same time the ships were pulling out, Baltimore was building their terminal and it became an attractive cruise port because it's easily accessible by car, plane, train and bus for those living in the BosWash Megalopolis. Bermuda was the saving grace for Norfolk, but CCL has ceased doing business there.

My guess is for a 7 day cruise they are limited to where they can go. Wish they did more Bermuda runs from there though.

Did 3 days two years ago and would love to go back and see what we missed.

Carnival is not sailing from Norfolk in 2014. It appears that the Glory will not be going to Boston to do the NE/CANADA runs since Splendor is doing them from NYC, so since she wont be repositiing up and down the coast in May & October there isnt a ship to "stop" in Norfolk to do the runs from there.
