How well do the cruise line incorporate the ports into the dinner menus and/or activities?

Do they change their entertainment and menus to incorporate the ports you will be visiting?, especially the Mediterranean ports that go to Italy, France, Greece, etc...

Some cruise lines do a much better job incorporating the local cuisine and entertainment than others. The luxury lines really do a great job by having their menus reflect local cuisines, but the mass market lines really don't do all that much. You might find some local seafood on the menu, and maybe one recipe, but that's about it. We cruised the Med on the Grandeur and they really didn't do much of anything, but on Crystal and Seabourn, they had special menus and they brought on local entertainers from the ports of call.

I don't recall the ship's menus ever changing for the ports. They change mostly for the theme nights - Italian night, French night, American night, etc.

Voyager of the Seas - 05/04
Tahitian Princess - 10/03 (Our Honeymoon)
Carnival Paradise - 08/02

Generally not at all. I have 10 cruises over 35 years on 7 different lines to locations all over the carribean, mexican riviera and Alaska. I was really disapointed in the lack of local seafood on our Celebrity Alaska cruise 6/03. The menus were the same as had been posted for the carribean itineraries.
