Just back today so maybe I missed something. Anyone seen anything?
MrPete Posted October 28, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2012 Yeah, you're right. The only thing I have heard so far was there were outter decks closed, due to construction. But there was a daily blog posted by the CD on the JH FB page. Pictures were stunning.
Royalty X Posted October 28, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2012 I know I've said it before but I promise my review of our Spirit cruise is coming (we're in the middle of packing up our lives here in Adelaide and moving interstate). Urgh, I hate moving! We love to cruise, but there were a few things that let it down a little. The daytime entertainment left a lot to be desired when we were on board. We're used to sailing P&O Australia and their constant entertainment leaves the Carnival daytime entertainment for dead. I thought with Carnival Australia managing the ship now that it would improve but (from reports of the cruise that just got back today) apparently not. It was almost like they took their usual 7 or 10 night entertainment program and stretched it out across 17 nights. The parties they had on board our cruise were mainly an excuse for the entertainment staff to entertain themselves. They weren't very well attended and a lot of the time, the people who were there didn't get in the spirit of things. They had a bathrobe pool party out on the Serenity deck for our crossing of the International Date Line. Even though the robes were provided in our staterooms (with bathers underneath), I think I counted maybe ten or fifteen people wearing them (five of whom were entertainment staff). That being said, apparently there were only 20 people onboard between the ages of 20 and 40. The nightclub was dead and even the casino tables shut pretty early as well. I think towards the end of the cruise, they finally figured out that they should have the parties earlier so people would attend. We enjoyed our food in the MDR, buffet was pretty good most of the time, great pizzas and the steakhouse was amazing! Our cabin steward and the waitstaff in the MDR were amazing - very attentive! And they made them all do the dancing between main course and dessert. It got a bit much after a while. I think with that, you either love it or hate it. Some of the drinks waitstaff were a bit hit or miss with the service. Once they figured out you had a bottomless bubbles sticker, they usually kept away from you because there was no 15% gratuity in it for them. I really hope Carnival Australia gets feedback from people on their experiences. For the most part, we enjoyed our cruise (I know, it probably sounds like we didn't). And we wouldn't let little things ruin the whole cruise for us (the ports we went to and the tours we did were great as well). But it certainly wasn't the best cruise we've been on and we probably won't go on the Spirit again.:)

I really wanted to do the cruise, but I couldnt justify the cost even for a once in a lifetime type trip to such amazing places. I am sure glad I didnt since I am 23. I am sure I would have been bored. Carnival left a lot to be desired on our recent cruise as well :( Glad you were still able to enjoy yourselves.
