drew sailbum Posted October 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2012 Cayman Airways is the only practical way to visit the Sister Islands of Cayman Brac or Little Cayman. Round trip airfare from Grand Cayman is usually about US$120. There is no ferry service. The Sister Islands are about 90 miles northeast of Grand Cayman and a five mile wide channel separates them. Tiny Owen Island lies just off the southwestern shore of Little Cayman. The Sister Islands are know for unspoiled beauty with fabulous scuba diving, rock climbing, bird watching, among other activities. Perhaps once every year or two one of the small specialty cruise lines makes a stop at Cayman Brac for just one day. A large ship from a major cruise line would carry significantly more people than the resident population of Cayman Brac (pop 2,100) and Little Cayman (pop 200) combined. Colorado Kat Posted October 29, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2012 I've done several land-based vacations on Grand Cayman, and a week on Cayman Brac, and a sailing trip out of Little Cayman. Never really combined the trips, unless it was for plane changes on Grand Cayman. It really is not practical, especially on a one day cruise ship stop. The smaller islands are lovely, though.
