drew sailbum Posted October 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2012 There is no limit on how much alcohol you can bring back for personal consumption, but you might owe import duty if you bring back more than 1 liter of alcoholic beverage per adult over age 21, regardless of whether it is hard liquor, wine, or beer. If state law is more restrictive than federal law then Customs and Border Protection will enforce that law. Importation of large amounts of alcohol might raise the suspicion that it is for resale and that necessary permits would be required. 1 liter = 33.814 oz... a bit less than three 12oz bottles of beer. Whitetip Lager is one of the cheapest beers in Cayman... about CI$9.00 (US$11.25) per six pack. It is sold by the six pack or case at several liquor stores or direct from the brewery.
