Scavi tour at the vatican

Recommended Posts

the tour is for ~16ppl (max). it's underground so the rooms are small, tight, damp, and perhaps claustrophobic to some. the guide takes you from room to room and explains what you see - crypts, crypts, & more crypts. The guide explains what we're looking at. At the very end of the tour, you get to see Peter's grave / bones. As you leave the underground you see various small beautiful chapels underground where private services could be held. Not sure if you'll see Pope john Paul II's tomb or not? After the tour, they bring you up inside the Basilica which is an AWESOME first view of the Basilica! Undescribable. hope this helps.

Hi Queenk2!

Yep, you need to try again. We did this tour in 2003, and had a response within a couple of days of our request. IMHO, it's one of those "don't miss" tours!

Happy Sailings!
