we are planning on the excursion to uxmal with auto progresso, but noticed that the excursion leaves at 9:00. our ship, the carnival elation, docks at that time. Has anyone had this come up, and if so did the bus wait for them?

Used AP 3 times to Uxmal. We took the shuttle into the town (flea market) then waited around 30mins before boarding to Uxmal. We spent around 2 1/2hrs at the site then were returned to the ship with around 45mins before all aboard. Trip was great but bring snacks and drinks. There will only be one ship in port so they are not going anywhere.

Correct, all the AP tours start in town at their booth.

They will have people at the port to pick you up to go into town or you can take the free port shuttle in.

The AP booth is at the shuttle stop.

The Uxmal tour is incredible. It is the most beautiful of the Mayan ruins, whereas most are moe masculine.

There is short walk, couple of hundred yards or so, up a mild incline to get to the first pyramid/beginning. Once you are there, you can really go and stop at your own leisure, of course the tour will continue rambling along. You can walk around most everything without having to walk up steps. The grounds are not particularly level as there are some ups and downs, however they are not too steep or long. The entire area is spread fairly wide, so to see it all you will have to do a fair amount of walking. Also, it can be very hot there, however there is plenty of shade, just bring water. You might want to wait until that morning to decide, depending on how your father feels. If you go through AutoProgreso, you won't have to book and pay until you get off the ship, just get off early. I hope this helps a little.

Uxmal is the most beautifull of all the ruins sites.

Do NOT pay in advance to AP. it is a disaster because they do not have any way to know who pays when you reach port. Most of their customers are walk ons.

We paid in advance and a a receipt. They still did not know what to do at the port and we ended up having to ride into tow to resolve with their main office.

The walk ons just paid the guy at the port and left an hour before us!

Their buses are new and very large, you will not have any problem as a walk on.
