On NCL they call you when they are on the way to your cabin with your room service order - that way you can pull your self together, clear off a table for the tray and get the tip $$ ready.

 

On NCL they don't answer when you call for room service. If by change I got through, they didn't come or came after an hour!

 

They don't call on Carnival. We use it as our wake on port days. Otherwise, I just call room service (on carnival. NCL sucks.)

The only time we use the door hanger (or room service for that matter) is for breakfast on port days when we have to be off the ship early. If there is time to go to Lido before leaving the ship we will, but that is not always the case.

We always call and order room service when we return from our excurisions. Same thing= 2 BLTs chocolate cake and apple juice.
