cdollaz Posted May 26, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2005 I have been checking the weather reports and it shows thunderstorms pretty much all week, including the days we will be on MoBay, Cozumel and GC. Do excursions usually happen anyway or do many of them get canceled? What else should I expect to be different if the bad weather happens? Thanks. CruisingYiayia Posted May 26, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 26, 2005 Last time we were in Grand Cayman, we tendered in. If the weather is bad, they may not run the tenders. I'm not sure about Montego Bay, but Cozumel the ship is docked.
Taters Posted May 26, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 26, 2005 One thing about the rain in Jamaica - It's always warm rain. That place is stiflingly hot, so the rain is a blessing! We've been there 5 different times on cruises and all shore excursions, at least on our sailings, have been a go, rain or shine. Have fun! Got Out There Posted May 26, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 26, 2005 We are also traveling on the Rhapsody 5/29. FYI, we are not going to Montego Bay. They just switched it to Ocho Rios, same day Wednesday 8:30AM - 5:30PM.
TheWog Posted May 26, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 26, 2005 More than likely the rain won't last long so you should be fine. As they say in Jamaica it is "liquid sunshine". Ocho Rios you have a pier to dock at so you should be fine. GC could be a no go depending on the seas.
cdollaz Posted May 26, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted May 26, 2005 We are also traveling on the Rhapsody 5/29. FYI, we are not going to Montego Bay. They just switched it to Ocho Rios, same day Wednesday 8:30AM - 5:30PM. I just called about the canopy tour we had scheduled and they assured me that we would be on the priority list for the Ocho Rios canopy tour. Needless to say, I am going to be unthrilled if someone who had not previously booked this excursion for MoBay ends up getting on and we do not. Cruising89143 Posted May 26, 2005 #7 Share Posted May 26, 2005 The rain showers in the islands are usually quick and gone. Most tours still go as planned unless you are a tender port and sometimes that can hamper things.
