Hi! Just wondering when traveling to let's say cozumel...traveling with traveler's checks for purchases more so for souveniors...Would the store merchants give you american money in change or peso's?

they will give you american money - but be careful not to give them too large of a bill or they will not have enough change and will either resort to pesos or raise the price. the pursers office will cash travelers checks for you and you can request small bills.

Depends on the port (and the store/shop). You have a better chance of receiving US$ back in places like Coz and GC, as opposed to, say, Roatan. Instead of 25c US, I got back a fistful of Honduran limpanas. :eek:

You can always cash your TC's at the pursers desk and get small bills for shopping at port.

If the Purser's desk is busy, go to the Casino cashier ... I did and not a problem.
