Grez Posted November 12, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2012 I was thinking about ship Godmothers the other day, inspired by a thread on another site. I think its well known that Liza Minnelli was the Godmother of the Majesty, but I had no idea about the other ships in the fleet. It turns out that the Spirit's Godmother was Princess Margriet of the Netherlands. However the Celebration's Godmother was a lady with the splendidly absurd name of Mrs. van der Vorm-van der Wall Bake! Anybody know any other Godmothers of Thomson ships past or present? Do you see any point to having them?
WeeCountyMan Posted November 13, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 13, 2012 As far as I know it's just a tradition that cruise lines perpetuate. We were on Grand Princess a couple of years ago and it had a framed photo of Olivia de Havilland with the relevant storyline, stating her year of birth (1916) only. This grand old lady of Hollywood is still alive and living in Paris. Her estranged sister, the equally famous actress Joan Fontaine is also still alive at 95 !!! http://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/news/news.cfm?ID=2410
