Dengue Fever in Madeira

A warning to all those on the lovely Spirit this winter. Make sure you take insect repellent and use it before docking in Madeira.

There have been a number of confirmed cases of dengue fever this past October which is a real rarity.

Simple enough to prevent with mosquito repellent but not something you would normally pack on a European Cruise.

I havent heard if they are not docking.

Thanks for the warning and great advice, especially since Dengue Fever mosquitoes bite during the day - many people assume that disease spreading insects are only present in the evening. I have noticed dengue fever outbreaks in many areas where people would not assume it to be an issue.
