Carnival insurance cancel for any reason?

I just booked a cruise for January was of course asked if I wanted to purchase insurance and said I needed to purchase today to have the cancel for any reason clause. Am I better off going through a private insurer?

Depending on who you insure with, you do have "some" time before making that decision. Try insuremytrip.com to compare and see what the guidelines say. Not to mention, the prices will be cheaper and the coverage higher going outside of Carnival's insurance in most cases.

 

I insure through Travel Insured via USAA and they allow 14 days from the date of booking to obtain cancel for any reason coverage. There are some limitations, but using the site above, you should be able to compare and make an informed decision.

Thanks 2JJandJ for the info. I won't rush to buy Carnivals insurance. It was kind of steep at $80 pp.

If you have a pre existing illness to cover I believe you have up to 2 weeks from the time you book your cruise in order to be covered. Cancel for anything is always more expensive.
