Tudorcruisers Posted December 5, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2012 We have a cruise booked for March and may have to change it to September and admin fee is £75 per person which I felt was a bit steep. Have you ever had to change a cruise booking and what happened?
50 Shades of Beige Posted December 5, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 5, 2012 Is it Celebrity that is charging you that or your TA, that happened to me once the cruiseline said there possibly would be no charge but the TA was wanted to charge me £100. Tudorcruisers Posted December 5, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted December 5, 2012 Thanks 50 shades. I really do believe it is Celebrity as we use this TA all the time and she came back and said I wouldn't lose deposit but they (Celebrity) would be charging a £75 admin fee. I guess I would see this on the confirmation letter etc. It just seems a lot so I am interested if others have had to make an amendment.
sandancer Posted December 5, 2012 #4 Share Posted December 5, 2012 Yes, I'm afraid £75 pp is the charge made by Celebrity UK if you change your cruise. I thought it would not apply if the new cruise cost more than the original one. If you want to change something on an existing cruise such as moving cabin, the charge is £35 pp. This is what my TA told me and I trust her totally. We have used the same one for the past 11 years and if it could be avoided I'm sure she would know about it.
Mack704 Posted December 5, 2012 #5 Share Posted December 5, 2012 I'm a little confused here. The way I understand it, at least in the US, if you cancel a cruise prior to final payment, your deposit is refunded. And say, you wait a day or two, then book a different cruise. At that time you would pay the regular deposit. So you are saying, if you do both of the above transactions at the same time, you are charged an administration fee? Huh? Lotus Girl Posted December 5, 2012 #6 Share Posted December 5, 2012 You have Elite in your signature. I thought you got one change free of charge and any other change after that was charged? I would check with the Captains Club.

Harvey The rules in the UK are different. Deposit is non-refundable even if you cancel a day or two later. Once the deposit is paid, any changes are chargeable. I think Lotus Girl that being Elite makes no difference now, Celebrity has changed this rule.

Harvey What you are saying applies to the US - the OP is in Ireland. Totally different rules/policies.
sandancer Posted December 5, 2012 #9 Share Posted December 5, 2012 And if anyone now points out that the OP is Irish, yes, Northern Ireland is part of the UK and the policies apply to all of us.
