Something fishy with RCL Customer Service

Recommended Posts

For the life of me, I cannot figure out what SRQfireman said that you felt was rude.

Or snarky. I have to agree. SRQ was straightforward and factual. Why can that not be taken at face value?

In the 10 years or so I have been on CC, there have always been contributors who want to insist all responses exhibit the degree of compassion that they prefer. I think all of us need to accept that not everyone has the same writing style, and an unadorned statement of facts even without empathetic comments should always be acceptable, as SRQ has done.

Just a funny story. I am on a board of an agency (in Virginia) which just completed an executive director search. One of the final candidates came from a northern state, and during her visit mentioned she had heard that in the South one does not say anything negative about others. She was evidently told by an agency employee that this was not quite correct; you can make all the negative comments you want as long as you add at the end "Bless his/her heart."

I don't think SRQfireman's statements were rude either.

OP--just based on your reactions to that poster, I think you might possibly tend to "hear" rudeness when you are upsetting and getting answer you do not like. Perhaps the RCI rep was as reasonable as SRQfireman but you "heard" rude because you dd not like the answer?

Sorry you were confused about the pricing. The single supplement thing always sounds so confusing to me.

Ironically, the confusing thing about Royal Caribbean's single supplement in this case is that it is a better deal than other cruise line's single supplements. Other lines likely would have double charged the non-commissionable fare from the get-go...then only taxes would have been due when cousin was added (TA Mom might have booked solos on those cruiselines). Instead, RCI charged a solo OP for only one non-commissionable fare...so OP had a nice deal for a solo. when cousin was added, the charges went up more than op expected. When OP did not get the answer the OP wanted, she cried fishy and rude. crying rude and shaming a CC poster only casts doubt on OP's perception of rudeness.
