Awesome Bar Program

I have read some threads regarding the program. If I understand this correctly, I would need to pay state taxes if I purchase the program while in port. I know we will be drinking the 1st day we get on the ship, and have not yet set sail. Does anyone know about how much these extra taxes are? We are sailing out of Baltimore.

When we sail out of Long Beach we add Long Beach taxes. I'm sure Baltimore is the same.

You will pay taxes only on the drinks you purchase while still in port - not for the entire program. So if you get 3 or 4 drinks before leaving port, you will only pay a few extra bucks (75 cents or so per drink).

Maryland's sales tax is 6%.

 

I'm assuming you'd only pay that on the first day's bar program charge?

You pay the normal non taxed rate for the program and taxes based on the individual drink prices for what you order. So if its 6% and you order a $9 drink the slip will be 54 cents that you sign. After you sail each slip is zero. I.e. $9.00 less discount $9.00 balance $0.
