Where to stay pre-cruise in Galveston

Cruising out of Gavelston in Feb. We will have a rental car.

Are there any CURRENT hotel deals that include a park and cruise rate? We would love to leave the car at the hotel for the week AND get shuttle service to the cruise port. Are there any hotels that offer free shuttle? If not free shuttle, I'd like to know the 'rate they charge' for a taxi/some sort of transportation to and from the cruise port. It has to be cheaper than paying for parking at the port, RIGHT?

We are looking to spend less than $200 FOR SURE...less is better as we will arrive later in the eve. and won't spend much time.

Almost every hotel on the island has park and cruise packages. If you want to go really cheap look at the Howard Johnson. They have free cruise parking and the park and shuttle place right across the street is about $8pp.

I did a quick search and found the Comfort Inn & Suites for $70 with free parking, the Quality Inn for $90.

A taxi ride from almost anywhere to the pier is less than $20.

Has anyone stayed at the Howard Johnson in Galveston? Even though we live in Austin, we are thinking about going in on Saturday, so we can relax Sunday morning and get to the ship leisurely. The room rate is $61. Free parking and shuttle is now $10/person/round trip.

I want to know how the room is. Is it clean? Don't need luxury hotel, or I'd pay more than $61,

It is in industrial area

and nothing around!

Look at Gaidos Seaside Inn or Waterpark Inn for reasonable pricing.
