Rolex in St Thomas or St Maarten?

Everyone has their 'favorite' jewelry shop, but my favorite is a shop at home, where I know I'll get a fair deal and if anything goes wrong, they'll make it right.

It USED to be that the Caribbean was known for great deals....with the internet, those deals have long since passed! What will you do if you find out that your Rolex isn't really a Rolex? What happens if it stops working? Are you prepared to go back to that place ($$$$) to get it fixed?

Buy expensive things at home. Buy momentos on vacation.

If it's an authorized dealer, you're guaranteed to get an authenticity watch. Since many luxury watches are limited editions, you should contact the stores ahead of time to see if they have the styles you may be looking for. All authorized stores have to adhere to prices set by the manufacturer. They can be flexible, though, as to free gifts with purchase.

I had a TAG/Heuer stolen a couple years ago and figured I'd wait a couple of months and see if I could find a good deal while on our cruise. I priced them at home first and looked online and had a good idea of how much the watch I wanted would cost.

I looked in Grand Cayman and St Thomas and they were actually MORE expensive there than at home! I imagine the same would be true of a Rolex.
