Day 8 Cruise Compass - Wellington! Capital of New Zealand.

We are well on our way to Wellington now.

Day 8 morning. When we booked our cruise, the port after Dunedin was supposed to be Christ Church which is in the south island of New Zealand. However, this was changed to Wellington, probably because of the earthquake damage. Our hearts go out to that city.

This morning, we slept in late. The ship won’t be arriving at Wellington till 1pm.

The MDR breakfast closed at 9:30 (I think). We got there at about 9am. My wife loves the cereal with yogurt and fresh fruits.

My boy likes the bacon and hash brown like potatoes. Of course, that is way too much bacon for a small-sized 7 year old. So we limit his intake.

Eggs benedict! My favourite MDR breakfast. I never get to eat this back home (Singapore), unless I go to some fancy place for breakfast, which I don’t care to since I know I can get it on the ship. J

We had a stop in Akaroa, from which we could travel to Christ Church. They are still rebuilding there.

There was some time to spare and we went to take another look at the shops. I recall there was a previous question on the shops on board. My wife said that they had done some upgrades to the shops, much better this time round compared to our June 2012 cruise.

They had signs like these all over the shop selling perfumes. According to this sign, the onboard price was USD 112 compared to USD 206 local market prices. I assume their local market means Australia. I have no clue about these prices, so here they are for reference.

Quite a good selection of international beers at the Pig & Whistle.

My wife told me that the shop selling bags was also not bad, though she didn’t fancy anything.
