jlk806 Posted December 28, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2012 Ok, so we've got it narrowed down that we are only doing more-expensive excursions in 2 ports (St Lucia & St Kitts), and in St Thomas, Barbados, and St Maarten are just taxi-ing to a beach. We are 6 ladies ages 22-30 who love a pretty beach, sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, relaxing with a drink. I see that Carlisle Bay and Paynes Bay both have great reviews, looks like Carlisle is closer to Cruise port. - Which beach is likely to be more packed? -Do both beaches offer restrooms, bar, food of some sort? -Are they both about equal in cost to rent chairs, etc? - If you've been to both which do you like better and why? HI, I've been to both beaches, Paynes is great for swimming with Turtles just off the beach. Based upon the description of your group, the boatyard on Carlisle bay would meet your needs better. The taxi fare to Paynes is $us20 each way per taxi, you can walk to the boatyard for free in 20 minutes. The boatyard also has restrooms (we call them toilets in the UK :)). All other costs are about the same when you factor in the $us12 admission charge to the boatyard that includes the chair hire, free drink and your cab fare back to cruise port. Is The Boatyard part of Carlisle Bay?
aimodels Posted December 31, 2012 #4 Share Posted December 31, 2012 Yes, the Boatyard is at the north end of Carlisle Bay. At the south end, Carlisle Bay ends at Needham's Point, which is where the Hilton sits. Carlisle Bay is about a mile long... Cheers, P:)
