ARCruisinNana Posted January 1, 2013 #26 Share Posted January 1, 2013 I could care less about the beam. A lot of balconies have one type of structure in the sight line somewhere. I'm talking about that awful area that was immediately below the balcony----not to mention covered in that outdoor blue carpet. Maybe the further up you get, the less of an eyesore this is.....more research needed, obviously. Yes, that area is horrible, but the higher up you are, the less noticeable it is. I have done many aft balconies on the Voyager and Freedom class, but I would NEVER book one on deck 6. I have my first aft JS on deck 7 on Navigator in a few weeks. Jury is still out on how I'll like deck 7. I booked late and the only JSs available were on decks 6 and 7.

We have had up to 3 loungers, two chairs, two tables on our balcony. Then we could have also put all our cabin furniture on the balcony. It is covered for bad weather rain and winds in a normal storm On east bound TA sun is on almost entire balcony from rear and sun is in on side of balcony until afternoon. We like cocktail parties on balcony. Last TA we had 22 passengers on balcony for cocktail party And could have had at least 10 more before 29 went to Giovanies. We stack the furniture on back wall. You can hang hammock! We will take views for sailaway from our balcony or the diamond lounge or Viking over the closet Concierge Lounge anytime or the other small balconies on the Ship. Arrival and departures and while in ports ...views can be spectacular from corner aft being able to see to rear and left and right of ship. Find another cabin on those ships that has the price for a balcony of that size. Probably 90 % of balconies on the ship are large enough for two chairs and a table. And the other in addition to 10 % don't have balconies. Everyone enjoy your balconies which ever one you like. More than that just enjoy your cruise the way you like to! They are E1 I believe.

Rare Familygoboston Posted January 1, 2013 #32 Share Posted January 1, 2013 I had one of those cabins booked on Adventure ( Voyager Class), and although the dates didn't work out and we are doing a Jewel corner aft instead, we really liked the idea of how much shade there is on those balconies on Freedom and Voyager class. Our Jewel corner will have a lot more sun, and I like some little shady alcoves...so different strokes for different folks. Having been on the Jewel aft cabins, I know I will love that panoramic view of the water from the aft cabins though:D
