FTTF Line same as VIP

Eventually everyone will get priority boarding. Eliminating priority boarding. When you have 500 people eligible for priority boarding doesnt that defeat the purpose? I just show up 12-12:30 and walk right on. No Diamond benefits and don't have to pay for FTTF. Eat lunch go to cabin. No waiting!!

dropping

your stuff in a cabin that is not secure is pure craziness

We were Platinum on our cruises last November. Both out of Port Canaveral. We boarded VIP. On the ships early. Rooms were ready. Dropped our bags and closed the door on the way out to go to Lido. Only access would be the Cabin Steward who we met both times. I don't think he would be opening the room and leaving the door open knowing we had our stuff in them.

Just our experience.

that was what I was rying to find out. How do the people working the gates at the ports know where to send people-

how do they know to send Platiunum to one areas and FTTF to another area.

there is nothing special about my luggage tags or boardingpasses that state I am a platinum cruiser

Our BP for next week's cruise shows PRIORTY. Also shows ''Platinum" by our names. No such distinction on the luggage tags.

i too am perplexed by all the worries about who boards first and who gets the perks. if someone doesn't want to lug their stuff around just get on board at 1:30, and a straight shot to the room, and i guarantee you that there will still be plenty of food on the lido. i have never taken more than an hour to board any ship anywhere, but then i try to avoid senior citizen embarkation ports (florida during the winter) and i travel light so i don't get hung up at the scanners nor do i lug stuff around. everything goes with the porters except for my carry-all.

besides, once on board there isn't a whole lot of stuff to do the first day that i won't get a chance to do later and i'm not concerned about getting the best spa reservation or a steak house seating or buying a bubbles card or getting an excursion. once i get on an airplane heading to my cruise i'm on vacation time. which means it has little or no meaning.

Thats it in a nut shell! Carnival open the doors for shortcuts as to reaching Platinum in 2012. Zillions indeed How will Carnival fit all the VIFP Platinums ,FTTF people in those r:eek::eek:ms I'd say next year at this time the only thing allowed in the Priority VIFP rooms will be Diamond members ;) Its like having several streams leading to one single entrance .

Get ready for a FLOOD !

FTTF people do not go into the lounge with the Plats/Dia, they have a separate check in line, no lounge.

dumbwaiterboy...

Thanks so much for posting this review... I have been waiting for someone to explain it like you just did.. What happens.. How the lines work how the porters end of things works... Most of these discussions have been about all fifteen of us F2F's being called out as misfits. Thanks for helping us understand the mystery process and an unbiased review.

It was ALWAYS explained as the FTTF would go through SECURITY with the VIPs....

then they branch off to their prospective locations...

VIP to the VIP room (or counter or desk or whatever)

FTTF to the FTTF room (or counter or desk or whatever)

This isnt for security..its for check-in. FTTF was being pointed to the VIP lounge for check-in in Long Beach.

Just returned from the Inspiration. I am 25 points from being Diamond. In the past, Carnival has always escorted Platinum guests to the ship. This did not happen on my cruise. On our cruise we checked in at the VIP Lounge as usual, however when it was time to board the ship... Carnival staff pointed to the Priority boarding area where the Faster to the Fun Cruisers were standing in line. They told us to go there and get in line. We did ... We were on the ship by 11:30, but everyone was told that we could not go to our rooms until 1:30. Go figure!

You should be surprised to know that the FTTF people are in the same room as Plats/Dia in some ports. Not that it bothers me , they paid for it.

I know when I did FTTF in August out of Miami I did not go to a lounge just a special check in line.

So you mean the drama of them letting the FTTF people on that side (with the REAL VIPs) isn't really warranted??

I wonder why people make a big deal about getting on first....I tried the program purely because it was new and liked the idea of it...would I do it again....no.

I liked the fact of priority cabin access and luggage early...loved the guest service line, but usually never use, and forced myself, instead of going in the early am when I used to go, to go when it was busy, just because I could...you know, for research

I think that if you are the type to get to port early (I'm an early riser....and that forces my sister to wake up...not that I ever would rip open the drapes and scream CRUISE DAY and throw pillows at her...) and usually get a zone card under #10 I don't think it's necessary...I don't picture myself ever making the Redfrog first customer dash and don't need to be first on the ship...I just don't want to be in a line down the block and around the building....

So if you are the type that gets bored in your hotel and show up early anyways, you probably don't need this, unless the room access and luggage is worth $50 to you.

I however will be trying the new CHEERS program in 4 days....you know, for research

me first! I've got to do my research first! I can't wait any longer! Someone might get in line in front of me....oh no!

In all seriousness, this is the biggest waste of money I've ever seen...

I think the OP started this topic just as a means to let people know

that certain people made bold statements about what was or was

not happening with the boarding of FTTF and Dia / Plats.

And I think it should be made public .

The fact about boarding first and calling people "Snobs" for doing so

is just absurd.

All in all a person cannot be at fault for wanting to board first.

Carnival set in motion the rules that allows this to happen.

Carnival came up with the idea FTTF Plats / Dia etc. I don't see how

that person becomes "snobbish " because of programs Carnival put in place.

It's everywhere you look in all walks of life, steps are taken that

make sure people are set apart from others .Are they better than the

next, No. But as long as a person pays their dues or actually buys into

a particular program its going to happen. If there is money to be made,

its going to happen.

I do see where its confusing even to Carnival employees as to who boards

when and in what order.

Carnival also allows for a seperate line for Plat /Dia members at guest services.

Yes ,thats right more seperation .I have seen more arguments and confusion from customers as

to who's next or what line to be in.

Should be quite the fun watching events play out if your into Saturday night Boxing.

What it all boils down to is way to many changes in the past months

for anyone to understand whats going on with this New Carnival .

I would have never thought a person would try to turn a cruise industry

into an airline industry but yet they are .

I really didn't think a cruise ship could fly , I'm curi;)us whats next?

That's what I've always thought. How long does it take someone to make $50? And then exchange it for nothing more than time.

Hi there,

If you're Platinum, your luggage tags will read PRIORITY. It used to read VIP.

You will be directed to the correct line because your cruise doc or boarding pass which you should print when checking in on line prior to cruising. (This is what needs to be shown with your passport) You'll be shown to the Priority lounge. (used to be called VIP) Or whatever they're calling the area for Diamond/Platinum cruisers.

Have a great cruise. :)

In Miami it's now called the Captains Lounge.
