pmd98052 Posted January 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2013 Does anyone have experience with this and the guard rails on the top bunks when you have four in a cabin? We're travelling next month on Sapphire (P227 cabin) with our 5 and 7 year old. I'm worried about them falling out of bed. Does anyone have experience of these beds with young kids or photos of the guard rails etc? We may elect to bring inflatable guard rails with us as well... Thanks!! TupeloHoney Posted January 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2013 I don't have a picture, though i'm sure you'll find one somewhere. I wouldn't put a 5 or a 7 year old up there though. I suppose it depends on the kids. I think I'd opt to give them the regular beds and put mom and dad up top.
shredie Posted January 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2013 Someone told be about a trick where you use one of those pool "noodles" split on one side all the way down then tuck it over the edge of the mattress (under the blanket.) This provides some sort of barrier, I guess.
jbobst Posted January 11, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2013 Here is a photo of our interior quad cabin on the Grand Princess back in 2006. Not the best photo, but the rails were perfectly suitable and the kids loved the bunks. If you sleep with your head the way it was designed, there isn't really any way to roll off the bed. Our kids were 5 and 8 years old. No problems at all.
pmd98052 Posted January 11, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted January 11, 2013 Thanks so much for the photo that looks like it would definitely be fine - very similar to our bunk bed set up at home!
vttraveler Posted January 11, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2013 Thanks so much for the photo that looks like it would definitely be fine - very similar to our bunk bed set up at home! Last year we took my nephews, 7 year old twins, on a cruise in a quad cabin and they loved the bunks (same set up as in the picture). No problems with them falling, rolling out of bed, etc... One of their favorite activities was coming back to the room to see which stuffed animal the room steward had tucked into their newly made bed. They also loved decorating the cabin to ward off pirates with the crafts they made in the kids club. It was a wonderful trip!
