Cunard Cruiser Posted June 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2005 For those who were on QM2 this spring for the Caribbean cruise, I have a question. I heard/read that QM2 was not making calls to San Juan because the harbor was not dredge deep enough. Could you please tell me what port of call was put in place of San Juan? I am on Dec 8th with the first stop being San Juan and was wondering what I could expect. Thanks much.
cruiserking Posted June 2, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2005 Sea-sea, For our March 9 trip they substituted St. Thomas for Puerto Rico. However, since your December 8 cruise already includes St. Thomas, I wouldn't be surprised if QM2 stops there first and adds another sea day somewhere in middle of the cruise. Alternatively QM2 might perhaps stop at St. Martin first and keep St. Thomas for a final port. Due to the fact that St. Thomas is a U.S. port it's much easier to deal with customs there as opposed to NYC on disembarkation day. Don't miss the jeep 4x4 tour in Barbados, it's the most enjoyable excursion I've ever experienced. Cruiserking
scottsanfilippo Posted June 2, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2005 My April 2nd cruise was supposed to stop at PR but we went to St. Maarten instead. Looking at the voyage calendar on cunard.com San Juan is scheduled for the Explorer's Caribbean in Nov/Dec.
nyca Posted June 3, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2005 I think both st thomas (st johns) and st maarten are better ports then san juan.
dtwtraveler Posted June 8, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 8, 2005 I think both st thomas (st johns) and st maarten are better ports then san juan. This may be true, but I would still like to see it for myself on the 12/8 cruise. I've always heard so much about San Juan.
