NCL vs Carnival

put me on a ship

NCL BBQ's on sea days are fabulous

Ha ha...my husband got food poisoning at the outdoor BBQ on our July Alaskan cruise. He was horribly sick for 3 days on the ship and confined to our room. Absolutely no way it could have been from anywhere but the ship's BBQ. I don't think he will be eating at something like that again :)

In my experience:

Carnival surpasses NCL in the category of trashy tats and "tramp stamps".

Carnival surpasses NCL in drunken behavior.

NCL apparently can't match up people (couples) for tables more than two.

NCL is more anal regarding people bringing alcohol aboard.

Both try to out do the other in "nickeling and diming" the other.

Both are less than scrupulous in keeping common areas, like the buffet, clean.

Those are my observations.

I give a slight nudge to NCL and when I can afford to dump (i.e. move up) them, SeaDream Yacht Club is where I going.

For the time being, I give NCL a nod up for the suite perks.

We just booked our first NCL cruise, after cruising almost exclusively with Carnival, and I must say, after reading reviews and comments here, am really looking forward to it!

I am a curious person by nature, so I was wondering (for those of you who have cruised with both lines), which do you prefer, and why? Or is another cruise line your first choice? (NOT trying to start any arguments, just like to hear other peoples' opinions!)

I like NCL as you can go in hot tubs late at night, the freestyle dining (i think food is better). Food is available 24/7 not just pizza or what is on the room service menu. Entertainment is better as well.
