Mayan Ruins - Cozumel

Were in Cozumel May 25 and intended to go to San Gervasio - on the cross- island road that runs from town. When we got there, they told us it was about an hour walk (they thought maybe 5-6 km) from where we would park the car to the entrance, and an entrance fee of $10. It was hot (95+) and we realized we were running short of time, so we didn't go.

We did visit El Cedral, on the south side of the island. It is just a small temple type building, surrounded by many many shops selling souvenirs. Not worth a special trip, but if you have transportation and really want to see it all, it isn't hard to find.

An hour walk from the parking lot to the entrance? Who told you that? Unless they moved it, I could swear that the parking lot is right by the entrance -- more like a 2 minute walk. Now the road from the cross island road to the parking lot is maybe a 10-minute or so drive but you aren't parking out there. That's just weird! Plus, the entrance fee is more like $5.50 USD per person. And, if you hire a guide it's about $20 USD for your entire group. I don't know who you talked to but "they" didn't give you the right story at all. Sally, Jim, PB Tom, Solita -- does any of this sound right to you?

That's really strange. Did the guys at the booth have national park badges on their shirts? Unless things have changed in the last few years, we didn't pay anything until we actually parked the car and went to the entrance. I'm really confused.
