Jenbo57 Posted January 22, 2013 #26 Share Posted January 22, 2013 To find the *real* stuff, walk several blocks from each pier and look for signs in the windows that say "locally owned" or something similar, and that carry products with the following: The Made in Alaska symbol indicates that a resident artist, craftsperson or manufacturer made the article in Alaska. The Silver Hand emblem guarantees that the article on which it appears was handcrafted by an Alaskan native. Wherever possible, art or craft items bearing the emblem have been made with Alaskan materials. You'll be supporting the locals, not the cruise lines (they get a kickback from most of the shops closests to the piers, which is why they ask you what ship you're on), and what you're bringing home with you will be authentic.
