How to get around in New Orleans

I leave on a cruise jan 27th from New Orleans, however I will be spending friday and saturday night at Metairie. What is the best ways to get around? I've tried to do some research on street cars and busses which you can get a day pass. Just not sure how convenient they will be from getting from Metairie down to areas like bourbon street?

 

Any travel suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm you might have to take a taxi to get downtown and then you can do the bus/streetcar thing.

It isn't easy, and there is very little service at night.

Two options. Rent a car or taxi. Metairie is about 10 miles from downtown and the French Quarter. If you don't have your own car, stay in the downtown-French Quarter-Warehouse District area.

I find taxi's are the best option. Traffic is congested and parking is limited. Pretty much you have to pay to park everywhere you go so taxi's or paying for parking is not that much difference.
