Is it just me?

Or is there news every week about a carnival ship leaving late or missing a couple ports?...

To answer your question, no, it's not you.

But the world didn't end on 12/21/12 <----another obscure reference.

Lately is seems to be true, but if you peruse the boards for some of the other cruise lines they run late and miss ports also... and usually for the same reasons.

Currently, Carnival has the largest US based domestic fleet (23 ships sailing from 12 US ports) so the chances of issues arising are larger with Carnival than say Holland America with a fleet of 14 ships, NCL's 13, Celebrity's 10 or Disney's 4.
