Last year at this time it was all Concordia ...so I'm thinking with all the late departures and missed ports we are still well ahead of the game..

Lately is seems to be true, but if you peruse the boards for some of the other cruise lines they run late and miss ports also... and usually for the same reasons.

 

Currently, Carnival has the largest US based domestic fleet (23 ships sailing from 12 US ports) so the chances of issues arising are larger with Carnival than say Holland America with a fleet of 14 ships, NCL's 13, Celebrity's 10 or Disney's 4.

The ships can't fight mother nature:) As for ships leaving late, I'd rather be stuck at a port if there's a mechanical problem then to be stranded at sea. ( But some people would rather chance things as long as they leave on schedule)
