New Orleans port?

We went out of NOLA a couple of weeks ago and it was pretty painless. It's close to the FQ and some people walk to get there. If you google map it you can tell it's pretty much attached to the Riverfront Mall. I'm too lazy (and it was rainy) so I just grabbed a cab from the hotel. Best $14 I spent :)

I'm confused as to your "activities" question. What activities does one expect at a port?

I believe the last drydock was late 2010.

Don't know anything about the Jewel.

Assuming you are talking about the day of your cruise?

You can get to the French Market and Jackson Square easily by walking through Riverport Mall. We usually do that before we get on a ship in NOLA. It is also possible to walk to the French Quarter. Hope this helps and happy cruising!!
