mikey55 Posted January 24, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2013 We are cruising on the Jewel in November and wonder what the pier facilities are like and what activities are available there. Also does anyone know when the Jewel was drydocked last?
sstrong Posted January 24, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2013 We just sailed out of NOLA two weeks ago. There is nothing in the immediate vicinity of the pier, but downtown and the French Quarter are just a short cab ride away (maybe 5 minutes). blindrid Posted January 24, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 24, 2013 We went out of NOLA a couple of weeks ago and it was pretty painless. It's close to the FQ and some people walk to get there. If you google map it you can tell it's pretty much attached to the Riverfront Mall. I'm too lazy (and it was rainy) so I just grabbed a cab from the hotel. Best $14 I spent :) I'm confused as to your "activities" question. What activities does one expect at a port? I believe the last drydock was late 2010. must2cruz Posted January 27, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2013 Don't know anything about the Jewel. Assuming you are talking about the day of your cruise? You can get to the French Market and Jackson Square easily by walking through Riverport Mall. We usually do that before we get on a ship in NOLA. It is also possible to walk to the French Quarter. Hope this helps and happy cruising!!
