Gold Sail and Sign Cards?

We had the Red,White & Blue cards on our Elation cruise in 2005 & we've been given Gold S&S cards on our 2006,2007 & 2008 Conquest cruises.

We bought Carnival lanyards to use & always get our cards punched at the purser's desk.

FYI...This thread is almost 3 years old.

tamiflood, I use a plastic id holder at times and also have them punch a hole at the casino/purser desk and attach a lanyard.

Whoops. :o Usually I notice these things. I guess I shouldn't be posting while doing dishes and keeping watch over my girls in the bathtub! lol

Thanks! :)

I've never had a Gold S & S Card??

Is this new?? I went on the Spirit 2 weeks ago and I dont think I heard or saw anyone with gold or platinum cards...

No, it's not new. Maybe you just weren't paying attention? I've had a gold card on my last 4 cruises:

Carnival Legend - New Years 06/07

Carnival Pride - September 07

Carnival Freedom - New Years 07/08

Carnival Conquest - February 08

I can't wait until I get a platinum card!! :D Only 3 more to go (since I think you get a platinum card on your 10th cruise - correct me if I'm wrong)!!

I think you get a gold card after your 1st cruise with Carnival. It identifies you as a past guest. :D

So there are still some ships that don't have the colored cards yet? I thought it was fleetwide by now.

I hope they have the Platinum Cards on Holiday when I get there in January. Cotton, you have a lot of Holiday cruises, do they have the Platinum cards there yet?

On one of the postings I read about a gold S & S card, I had the impression it was given if you sailed a certain amount of times on Carnival? Is this true? Also, what is the game played where you pick a color to be on a team? I did a search but could not come up with the answers? Sorry if this is old hat? Thanks.

You get your gold card on your second Carnival cruise.

I was excited when I saw that my S&S card was gold this time...especially after seeing my friend's ugly first time card...my first card was much sexier, IMO. Hers had light blue in the blue part, whereas my first S&S had dark blue and looked a lot nicer.

I'm easily amused.

This is an old thread from three years ago that was brought back to life today....

It was exciting getting my gold card a couple of weeks ago when we went on the Fantasy. I made fun of my DH for only having "an old blue card." It was also great when the guy who was checking us in was telling us about the past guest party and pointing to my DH but looking at me said, "oh and you can bring him, if you want." I laughed and laughed. My DH chuckled and asked if there was a party for the less fortunate first timers. The guy responded, "I promise on your next cruise you will have a party too."

I like this thread and am glad it was brought back to life. I haven't sailed on Carnival for 9 years but it will be my 4th time so I will get a gold card. I did not know about them before this thread!

Cruise lines are always trying to satisfy repeat customers but I have enjoyed taking different lines. This will be my first time on the new breed of Carnival ships so we'll see if I come back sooner. I have reasons that I prefer each line because they are all a little different. I wish Carnival would put a newer bigger ship at Port Canaveral.

I think that color thing they do is dumb. I never am told anything about it then I hear a little about it during a game and most people have no idea what "team" they are on. We never get a points tally and there is no "prize". It isn't much of an incentive. They ought to just drop it if they aren't going to put more structure to it.

I just got off of the Valor and we had a Gold card this time, my 2nd cruise. We had the past guest party in the theater. Maybe they were expecting a lot more people. I was amazed at how many red/white/blue cards I saw throughout the cruise. I saw one platinum.

Not necessarily....if you haven't been updated in their computers they may only recognize you as a first-timer. Might want to check to make sure Carnival knows about your previous cruises.
