Taking Drink on board QE2

I hope someone can help, I have read somewhere, but cannot now find where, that you can take on duty free alcoholic drinks but over and above personal and allowance amounts the drink is retained and returned at the end of the cruise. We are due to join QE2 30 July for 14 nights and may well take advantage of this subject to any cruisers current comments which are invited. Thanks in advance.:)

Hi,

We were aboard the QE2 last summer and at xmas and had no problems taking as much alcohol on as possible really. Say we'd bought a couple of bottles on shore one day, we'd just take them to our cabins and buy more the next day. They didn't really seem to check how much we were buying. However, we never bought in bulk so I am not sure how much they would allow you to bring on at one time.

Sorry I can't be of any more help.

The only check on what you are bringing aboard in port is for security. Usually if you have local shopping bags these will be put through the scanner. The guys operating this are certainly not concerned about what you are importing as long as there is no security risk to the ship.

Thanks for answering, I certainly do not want to drink all hours of the day, just a quick pre -dinner drink at reduced expense. Thanks again. Don:)

For your Information. This received today, 6th June 2005, from Cunard:

Guests can bring their own drinks with them, we do charge corkage

fee for this unless you drink it in their your suite. Corkage is charged at

$13.00 a bottle.

We do suggest if you do decide to bring your own drink with you,

then it is safely stored in you suitcases.

That kills this thread then.
