margiandmike Posted February 1, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2013 Is there High Tea on the Monarch? Also, any must do's or tips/secrets would be great. It'll be my friends first cruise ever. We are looking to have some fun.
Cruisin MarcnFran Posted February 1, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2013 I just pulled my old compasses from 10/29/12 and don't see High Tea listed for any afternoon activity. We've been on the Monarch 4 times. Take a $4 taxi ride to Atlantis and just walk around the hotel and grounds. There's plenty to don on board as well - trivia, Quest, movies, demonstrations, music, dancing, etc. The shows are good, the food is good, the staff is great. Best of all, no bill after each of your 4-5 course meals. Have a wonderful vacation!
Clarea Posted February 1, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2013 Is there High Tea on the Monarch? Also, any must do's or tips/secrets would be great. It'll be my friends first cruise ever. We are looking to have some fun. Years ago, Royal would have snacks in the Windjammer (buffet) at 3 or 4pm and call it afternoon tea. From what I've read, this "tea" was not like what was done on other lines such as Princess. Now they just call it snacks and don't use the tea word anymore. mpoole3 Posted February 1, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 1, 2013 Monarch is a FUN ship! Dont miss the sail-away party poolside. There is a link to my review below. Have a great cruise!
Clarea Posted February 1, 2013 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2013 Monarch also has the "Park Cafe" type roast beef sandwiches, but only for a short time on the pool deck right before sailaway.
margiandmike Posted February 2, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted February 2, 2013 Thanks everyone. I have read all the reviews on here. I search Monarch of the Seas reviews, menus, secrets, etc about every other day. I'm a huge researcher. Does it cost money to walk around Atlantis? I though I had read somewhere that you have to pay just to get in the door. Also, I have read a bit about Junkaboo beach or something like that....mpoole3, I think you mentioned it during your review. Is this the best beach to go to for inexpensive drinks and good sand and water? I appreciate all the info so far. Anyone else got anything I might like to know? You used to be able to walk around Atlantis and see some of the aquarium and outside grounds, but no more. You can see the casino, but just about anything else will cost you. PhotoPete Posted February 2, 2013 #8 Share Posted February 2, 2013 I was also on the 10/29/12 sailing. Had a great time. Food was good both in the windjammer and MDR. We went back to Atlantis (first time was in 04 on the Majesty).....you have to buy a pass to see just about everything except the casino....not worth the taxi ride IMO....have a good cruise. You need a wrist band for total access of Atlantis and that does cost. We only went to the casino (drink for free while playing, even the 1c machines) and then outside where they have quite a few upscale shops. We also walked around the dock area, viewing some of the most incredible yachts we've ever seen. Have a great cruise.
M2ice Posted February 2, 2013 #10 Share Posted February 2, 2013 You should be in port (Nassau) until midnight. If you go to Atlantis later in the evening, say about 6-7 you should be able to go anywhere you want without paying. We did it several months ago. I think the guards are only there during the day when there are a lot of people trying to sneek in.

Junkaboo beach does have cheap beers and only about 10-15min walk. Just remember there is nothing fancy there. Very laid back kind of day, beach towels on the sand, they do have restrooms that were clean. I enjoyed my time there, which is why I went back again on my B2B. However, I enjoy relaxing with a beer & book.
margiandmike Posted February 3, 2013 Author #12 Share Posted February 3, 2013 Thanks for the night time tip on Atlantis. And me and my friend are very laid back. I like a good atmosphere where I can just relax. All of you have been so helpful. We are leaving in a week and a half!
