tazprey Posted February 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 4, 2013 Seen some threads on here for secrets however they are really old and outdated. Would like to know updated secrets. Please share! It's been 10 years since my last sailing and I'm sure lots has changed. For example: - can you still get free postcards? - we were told to take our alcohol to the table when coming back from port but we could just walk past, is that still the process? You were supposed to drop it off, we just didn't. - Doors to get in front of the ship on the Breeze? (other ships for other people as we used this information on our past cruises) What else should we know?
kingoftheicedragons Posted February 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 4, 2013 I don't think you can get free post cards--at least I've never heard of this. I have seen post cards you can buy in the shops. Yes, that is still the process of bringing on alcohol. Some people talk about being called back if they attempt to bypass the table after they've been told to stop there, but even when I've had alcohol, I've never been told to stop at the table. I don't know about the front doors to the observation deck as I've never been on Breeze.
nlktx49 Posted February 4, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 4, 2013 Last year I asked for a free postcard in Guest Services, wanted one with a photo of the Magic on it. Was told to go buy one in the Gift Shop! They didn't have any with the Magic on them. I did get two decks of cards at Guest Services.
chipq Posted February 4, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 4, 2013 On some of the decks when you go all the way forward there may be a door to exit to a deck just as the hall ends. Not sure on the Breeze but I found deck 6 and 10 on Valor lead to rarely occupied decks at the front of ship. Have not seen any free post cards and don't bother bringing booze on from a port call. Good luck. http://luv2cruise.blogspot.com
bm6pm5 Posted February 5, 2013 #5 Share Posted February 5, 2013 Last May 2012 we got free postcards on the Glory from the guest services desk. Also got a couple of decks of cards. Got cards again in October 2012. Just asked for them.

jiggs Posted February 6, 2013 #8 Share Posted February 6, 2013 the alcohol table is hit and miss and it depends on how busy security and the booze table is when you get back...if you're asking how to get booze back on after you're on an island, lets just say the guy at the booze table has no clue how much is in your bag... jacksmom09 Posted February 6, 2013 #9 Share Posted February 6, 2013 Can you still get a deck of cards ? Where?
jiggs Posted February 6, 2013 #10 Share Posted February 6, 2013 Can you still get a deck of cards ? Where? used to give them free at the pursers desk, I think thats long gone. The latest cards they were giving were pretty junky... you can purchase used decks of cards from the casino for a $1 a deck (from the cage(cashier)). A pretty good deal even if the cards have a cut corner or a hole drilled in them
dodgetrucksrule Posted February 6, 2013 #11 Share Posted February 6, 2013 I was able to get cards for free at the guest service desk last November.
pokergirl34 Posted February 6, 2013 #12 Share Posted February 6, 2013 Are these cards made of plastic like official cards used at casinos? and are they printed with the Carnival logo. Might be fun to use those if they are "real" casino cards. DH is a card snob LOL. He won't let me use the ones we got from Carnival for free at Guest Services in '09. 2 cruzen Posted February 6, 2013 #13 Share Posted February 6, 2013 I thought there were postcards of the ship in the stationery book in your cabin, or was that on HAL? Old timers here, sorry.
tea4ular Posted February 6, 2013 #14 Share Posted February 6, 2013 I bought some vanilla tequila in Cabo in November, didn't even think about the turning it in part, put it on the scanner in my backpack (a small, ladies sized, not a camping backpack :p) and walked right through. Got to the cabin and was putting my stuff away and realized I had the stuff. No biggie. If they'd have asked me to leave it on the table for last night delivery, that would have been fine too.
