How much should I budget?

I am going on a 3 night cruise on the 24th to the Bahamas. I have paid for the plane tickets, excursions, and cabin for the 2 of us. We do not need transpotation or hotel I have family near by. But I was wondering what else I need and how much?

Tips?

Photos?

Gifts?

1 drink a day?

I have $500 saved up so far. Do you think that will be enough?

Which cruiseline? Carnival, for instance, has a Sail & Sign account folio set up for you, and every purchase made on board will be charged to that account. Your automatic tips will be $10 per day per person. Photos, gift shop purchases, alcoholic beverages, and soft drinks - all charged to your S&S account. The account must be settled prior to leaving the ship. SO -it will be entirely up to you how much you spend. I think $500 for two (since you've already paid for your excursions), should be more than adequate. Now, if you're a gambler and hit the casino a lot, that's another story....?:D

This is very personal. Do you drink, figure at least $6.00 per drink. Wine starts at $28.00 a bottle and up plus tip. Do you plan to eat on shore or on ship. Do you shop, gamble or buy photos. You must tip the porters (people that take your bags at the curb). Are you going to order Room Service (tip here is nice). Then you also have the $10.00/day/person tip.

We are not big drinkers but I am factoring 1-2 drinks a day. We will eat on ship and do not gamble. We are going on carnival so they add the tip for us. Thank you so much for your help.

$500 should be plenty. Since you do not gamble or drink heavily, the cash you have should be more than enough to cover whatever shopping you do and also your tips (which will equal about $80). Regarding the porters: $1 or $2 per bag will be sufficient.

YOU WILL HAVE A BLAST no matter how much money you bring! :D

Don't forget about the photographers. You can have your pictures taken as many times as you like , but if you don't like the way they turned out, you don't have to pay for them. If I remember correctly they're $10 each. Also, on formal night, and since I've never been on a 3 day cruise and don't know if there is a formal night, my wife has her hair done, $50 plus tip. And if you decide to eat dinner at any of the specialty restaurants on board, that would be an extra $20 each plus tip.
