UandMe4Ever Posted February 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2013 Hi cruisers, It's been about 4-5 years since we sailed the lovely Jewel...It was a great cruise. Are there any cruisers who have been on her very recently? I do remember that around 11ish p.m., at the back of the Casino, they would set up 'mini' sandwiches and cut up fresh fruit..Maybe even cold water and small little dessert treats. Does anyone know if they still do that? It's just a nice little touch for late night snack before bed without ordering room service. Also, I'm still trying to find out how the depth of the Pool. Last I remember you needed to be way over 5' to go in if you didn't swim, as it was over the head...I don't swim, but would love to see if there is a shallow part (I'm not proud, I'll go to the kiddie side if need be);). We're sailing April 21st, 17 nights on a Repo from NY to LA...Very excited... Anyone with accurate knowledge on any subject with regard to the Jewel, in addition to my questions, will be greatly appreciated, with thanks!! Safe sails always:)

Safe sails always:) Was on the Jewel a couple months ago. They had finger sandwiches and snacks set up in the casino all the nights I was there late. The pool is about 5 ft. I am over 6 ft and could stand with my head out of the water, but I don't recall it being more shallow than about 5 ft.
dfg1027 Posted February 8, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2013 Loved our sailing on the jewel a few years back. As I recall, the pool was, 5 '.....I am 5'1" and could not touch bottom...spent most of my time "leaning" up along the side :) and I can swim.... just chose not to if I don't have too hehe But then again, I usually can't stand up in any pool on any ship...'cepting for the kiddy pool :)
antsnanny Posted February 8, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 8, 2013 I just cruised on the Jewel, 12 night from NYC to the caribbean and you will not be disappointed. We had an awesome cruise. Regarding the pool: I must admit, I took this from an older post. There are 2 main pools - one that is adults only, one that is for adults and kids. The adult pool was on one end 4'7" deep, and 4'11" on the other, but I think it was slightly deeper in the middle. I don't know exactly what the depth is on the family pool but I had heard from other pax that it was less deep. The kids' pool is a small shallow pool - 10" of water, and has a little slide in the middle. There's also a kids-only hot tub next to the kids' pool. The kids' pool is tucked in a corner with a partition, out of line of sight from the main pools. We were in the casino every night and they always had the snacks you speak of. I hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did!
