need REALLY nice hotel in ft. lauderdale

i'm planning on surprising my husband with a labor day weekend in ft. lauderdale. we've stayed at the marriott harbor beach before (pre cruise) and if you guys think that this is the nicest place.....i'll rebook it. but if there is someplace as nice or even slightly less nice...i'd like to try someplace new. being on the beach is more important than anything else and a view of the water is also important. it doesn't have to be big and the rooms should be updated. thanks for all your help.

we have booked the Pelican Beach resort in FLL for our first ever visit to the area....its a brand new hotel ,right in the beach,looks wonderful and has had great reviews on tripadvisor.
