Hi --

 

My husband and I will be in Lisbon a few days after our cruise in November... I've been looking a Private Tours, Small Group Tours and bus tours... Is Fine Tours a Private Tour? Do you know if they have a website? Approximately how much did it cost (full or half day)? Where did they take you?

 

Sorry for all the questions but even a nudge towards a website would be great!!

We were in Lisbon during a transatlantic crossing this spring and used a company, Tours for You that did an excellent job. This was the write up I did on their web site after the cruise.

 

I want to strongly recommend Tours for You as a company to use for tours in Portugal. I was on a transatlantic cruise in May 2005 which was going to be in Lisbon for only one day. Through the internet I had found Tours for You and arranged for a full day tour for a group of 14 people from RCCL's Jewel of the Seas that included a morning trip up the Estoril coast, then to Sintra for a visit to several of its famous sites and finally time back in Lisbon in the afternoon to visit several of its noted places of interest. Our guide, Orvil, spoke excellent English, has a wide knowledge of the places we visited and of the history of the region and of Portugal and did an excellent job throughout the tour answering our questions and pointing out what we were seeing. The Mercedes minibus the company provided for our group had plenty of leg room for even the tallest among our group. The driver did an excellent job of navigating the narrow roads in the countryside and crowded highways around Lisbon.

 

I would strongly recommend contacting Tours for You if you are going to be visiting Portugal whether it is for a day off a cruise liner like we did or for a longer stay in this beautiful and interesting country. Hopefully my wife and I will be able to return and spend more time seeing even more of Portugal and Lisbon.

Another vote for http://www.toursforyou.pt./ We've used them twice and been very pleased with both our guides. I hope you can go to Sintra, great town and magnificent castle.

Here's a third vote for Tours for You. We used them this past April and

were very pleased with them. We took a day tour to Sintra and the Coastal

towns, and then saw some of Lisbon. I would highly recommend them.

Make that four. As a TA, I have dealt with "Tours for you" several times. They are professional, efficient, and a pleasure to work with. Their itineraries for extended stays are IMO the best on the market.

I guess it's unanimous for Tours for you! We used this company for our day excursion which included a morning in Sintra, lunch, then an afternoon in Lisbon. Our guide was named "Josh" (at least this is what he told us to call him). It was a great day and many Euro;s cheaper than the ship's excursion. I'd go with this company with so many happy customers over an unknown. We 6 passengers that day were very satisfied!

I really appreciate everyone's unanimous recommendation... I had seen the website by doing some searches but as good as the internet site is, it sure doesn't beat recommendations from other travelers!!

 

Yes, we'll be going around Lisbon and also to Sintra (and Pena)... I've been there once but that was B.H. (before husband)... I want to show him what a great place Lisbon is, too!!

 

These boards are great -- everyone is so helpful (and I've tried to help others!!)... What goes around, comes around -- so I hope others are as helpful to you!!
