vg247 Posted February 13, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2013 Hello everyone, We are first time cruisers and will be coming off the NCL Dawn during the week of March 24th. we have booked Victor Bodden for Roatan utilizing a personal tour guide for the day. Mainly we are just interested in a relaxing day on the beaches and nothing more. Any input on which beaches and resort areas that we should ask the driver to take us to spend either the entire time or to visit various beach areas that are not to miss? From my research and what Victor shared there are resorts offering day passes for chair, fresh water shower use, etc. I like to hear about some experiences as to which resorts are best for this? He mentioned they are capacity controlled but others on the forum have mentioned some were over crowded at Bananarama so it would be nice to hear more from you all on this in addition to which resort fees were worth it or not, etc.. Any great local food recommendations for our time there would be much appreciated as well...again, we have the duration of the cruise port visit and our personal guide to personalize our day and we are only interested in relaxing on the beaches nothing more. Many thanks in advance everyone..
Guest 2000 Posted February 13, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2013 If sand is all you seek and quiet is preferred...don't go to West Bay. Many of the beaches are only accessed through a resort so one would have to pay the day pass for that resort to get in. If you seek quiet and sand... no snorkeling... Camp Bay is a lovely spot.. no need to pay a day fee but you will have to buy food and drinks to use the loungers and potties. Paya Bay is also a delightful quiet spot. They have a day fee. Parrot Tree is another option. If easy access to reef snorkeling is the goal, West Bay is the answer. Though if you are a strong swimmer, one can pay the day fee at Fantasy Island and snorkel the wall near CocoView.
