misty57 Posted February 17, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2013 We have stayed here several times at the Hyatt House ( Summerfield Suites) but only one night at a time. Because of the threat of severe weather here in the lovely Midwest, we changed our flights so we will now be there for 3 nights:eek:. For one night we can hang out, but for 3 nights and 2 full days I am wondering what we can do so we are not just sleeping and eating.... We will not be driving or renting a car. The hotel shuttle will take us within a 5 mile radius of the hotel. Is anyone familiar with the area and know how far a shopping mall might be ( not Oakwood) or a nice movie theater? DH can't walk very far ( or fast:D) Thought about going to Miami and doing a bus tour but with the added hotel nights would rather not spend the money ( also kind of tired of HOHO tours after our New England/Canada trip). Thanks!
royalcruz Posted February 17, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2013 I can't think of any other shopping near there. The closest would be Hollywood Mall on Hollywood Blvd but there isn't much there (Oakwood is better). With a car you could go to Aventura, Pembroke Lakes, Gulfstream, Pembroke Gardens, Galleria, etc.
hcw80 Posted February 17, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 17, 2013 Hollywood Beach has a nice boardwalk where you can stroll and get lunch. It is wheelchair friendly if your husband needs help. The watertaxi and the Jungle Queen are nice ways to spend the day. The Everglades and Flamingo Gardens are also great spots. However, all of these will need cars or taxis. There is not much by where you are staying.
misty57 Posted February 17, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted February 17, 2013 Thanks for the replies. I wonder what a taxi fare to Hollywood beach would be? Sounds like a nice place to spend some time.

Thanks! I really would reconsider having a rental car. There is so much to do and see and having transportation would surely enrich your stay. It would be as much or more than the daily rent on a car.

Thanks! Across from the Millers Ale House is a movie theater. While we were there in November, we were walking around after dinner and got caught in the rain so we hid at the movie theater until it stopped.
