lukesmom Posted February 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2013 I have done 3 Carnival cruises (most recent was the Dream) but DH wants to do an AI this year. I have the Allure on hold and think it would be great for the kids (age 7 and 10). Looking for feedback on the kids club. I think an AI would be boring for the kids.....any comments? Thanks!! rstout Posted February 19, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2013 We are going on the Allure next month, which of course our kids can't wait for, but I have to tell you that we love All-Inclusives. As long as they have a kids club and pools or a beach, your kids will probably love it. They are really relaxing. Just find one that is kid-friendly. We went to one in Mexico last year and had a wonderful time.
lukesmom Posted February 19, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted February 19, 2013 Thanks - do you remember what all inclusive you stayed at?
Mack2 Posted February 19, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2013 It depends on what you're into. I think the all-inclusive route is perfectly fine for a family. As stated, you have the pool, beach, kids club and all the food and booze you can handle. The one drawback I find with all-inclusives is the lack of variety. Same pool, same beach, same food... day in and day out for the duration of your trip. The Allure is the sister ship of the Oasis. We had done the Oasis in 2011. What an amazing class of ship. I was in awe. It's just... jaw dropping. You can't believe all of this is on a ship. So, aboard the Allure, it's like a resort surrounded by water that takes you to a few different beaches every couple of days. Variety out the wazoo. Tremendous shows (The kids loved Hairspray aboard the Oasis) and entertainment... and a lot of variety in the entertainment aboard. It was just... REALLY NICE. (Too bad the booze bill catches up with you, but who can drink a lot with kids in tow, anyway?) I'll post some pictures: Hard to compare the Allure/Oasis to an all-inclusive... but if you love cruising...
Mack2 Posted February 19, 2013 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2013 One of the things my kids kinda enjoyed was this circular "lazy river" thing they had on the Oasis. They would spend most of the day in that thing. There's ice-skating, mini-golf, zero-entry pools, FlowRiders, zip-lines, rock climbing walls... and they wanted to stay in the little "lazy river" thing? C'mon!

Mack2 Posted February 22, 2013 #7 Share Posted February 22, 2013 Is the Lazy river thing fresh water or salt? I believe it was fresh water. It was near the kid's splash area... It's actually more like an oversized lazy donut.
Peripateo Posted February 23, 2013 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2013 Are adults welcome in the "lazy river/donut?"
crusinmama06 Posted February 23, 2013 #9 Share Posted February 23, 2013 Are adults welcome in the "lazy river/donut?" Yes - adults are welcome. And yes the Oasis class ships are fresh water. :) The reason I keep going on cruises instead of AIs - in inclement weather - you can't MOVE an island - but the captain can move a ship/itinerary if for instance a hurricane is going to come through ;)
rstout Posted February 25, 2013 #10 Share Posted February 25, 2013 We stayed at Azul Sensatori, but there are a ton out there. I know we are going to love the Allure next month, too. We switch things up to keep it interesting! And my kids can't wait for the donut pool!
