christhree Posted June 9, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2005  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.... Tropical Storm Arlene Forms In Caribbean Storm Could Enter Gulf Of Mexico Friday POSTED: 6:03 am CDT June 9, 2005 UPDATED: 8:51 am CDT June 9, 2005 MIAMI -- The storm system edging closer to Cuba now has an identity. Tropical Storm Arlene has developed from a tropical depression that formed Wednesday. It's sustaining winds of 40 mph, and forecasters said the storm's center could reach western Cuba as early as Thursday night. Arlene is the Atlantic hurricane season's first named storm. At 8 a.m. Eastern, the center of the storm was located near latitude 19.1 north, longitude 84 west, or about 185 miles west of Grand Cayman and about 190 miles south-southeast of the western tip of Cuba. Forecasters said the storm is expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico Friday. And a hurricane specialist said Arlene's path could range anywhere from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle. The tropical storm has been causing heavy rains and squalls across the Cayman Islands and in western and central Cuba. It also could cause flash floods and mud slides in Nicaragua and Honduras. The 2005 hurricane season officially began June 1 and runs through Nov. 30.

shecat Posted June 9, 2005 #7 Share Posted June 9, 2005 The Holiday is due back Saturday morning. If Arlene stays on the projected path it will change the Holiday's schedule. They will probably cut the cruise a little short.
tribbs1 Posted June 9, 2005 #8 Share Posted June 9, 2005 Heading into NO on Sat. Plane gets in around 12:30 or 1:00 pm. Center of storm predicted there at around 2pm. NOT GOOD!!! YoureMoving Posted June 10, 2005 #10 Share Posted June 10, 2005 Having lived through last year's hurricane season here in Florida, all I can say is that it's not over until the fat lady sings! Projected path rarely seems to mean much these days - it will change over and over again over the next week. I've got my hurricane supplies including tons of water and all of the plywood from last year - so I'm ready in Tampa!
Cruising89143 Posted June 10, 2005 #11 Share Posted June 10, 2005 Right now they are showing most of the rain on the east side of the storm. Should not affect NOLA. More of a rain event for Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee.

IBEEMOM Posted June 10, 2005 #20 Share Posted June 10, 2005 The folks living in the projected path area certainly don't need another storm. They are still recovering from the one's they had last year. On a ship you can cruise around the storm. The people on land just have to sit it out. kelz66 Posted June 12, 2005 #21 Share Posted June 12, 2005 8o and sunny...both the Valor and Victory pulled into port on time. Not a thing to worry about from the storm. Just sitting in my hotel room waiting to go to the sea port!
