beachgirl55 Posted April 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2004 We sailed on the Alaunt on March 25. Can only say good things about them. The boat is larger than most of the 6-packs and in good condition. Ron and Carol are low key, but friendly. Ron's lunch was excellent and Carol's special rum punch was delicious. They had decent snorkel equipment and will try hard to find you some great snorkeling. Due to weather (rougher seas) we had a more limited choice of snorkeling spots but we did snorkel.

emtnmare Posted April 7, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 7, 2004 What is the rate for a day sail with them?
Lucky Irish Posted April 8, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 8, 2004 We sailed the Alaunt on the 31st of March the price is 120.00 credit and 110.00 cash. You will love your trip! We also had chartered the Winifred for our group and we really enjoyed Sharon and her first mate Tommy ~ Tommy took both groups on a snorkle and it was fantastic! Just bring some sun block and your camera ~ Sharon took pictures of our group, I'm not sure if Ron (Alaunt) took pics of his group. The time goes fast 9:30 (by the time you get from the dock in the dingie to the yacht it was closer to 10:00) and we were back at the dock by 3:00. Make sure you hit the ice cream shop right off the docks it is wonderful and a must stop. Remember to bring your tip money ~ they recommed 15% for the first mates and it is well worth it. Have fun and enjoy! Lucky

Lucky Irish Posted April 10, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 10, 2004 I did tip the captain....but if I had to do it over again I would not have tipped the captain. I brought 100.00 for tipping. I gave the first mate 60.00 and the captain 40.00 ~ I wish I would have just given the first mate the 100.00 and the captain her price for the sail (110.00 pp) We learn ~ I guess Lucky
thecleave Posted April 14, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 14, 2004 We sailed the Alaunt on March 28th and had a fabulous time - including an amazing rainstorm! Ron and Carol are wonderful. I also sailed the Winifred last December, but didn't get to meet Captain Sharon - she was on vacation. You can't lose with either trip. I just wanted to try a different sailboat so I could give better feedback here. Most importantly, do NOT miss a trip to Coldstone Creamery - the aforementioned ice cream shop. Addictivly good - best ice cream I've ever had! thecleave Posted April 15, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 15, 2004 I believe the Alaunt is different than some of the other charters, because I think Ron & Carol are "together". I went ahead & put the charge on my credit card, and gave Ron some money in cash for both of them.
