Mrs CruisinCritter Posted March 2, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2013 We booked an interior on upper deck on the Glory and a porthole cabin just became available. I would love to have some sort of a window for natural light without paying $50-90 above what we've already paid. (trying to do this one on a budget) Before I waste time calling Carnival, can I downgrade my cabin under the past guest rate?
SATXLady Posted March 2, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2013 It depends. If you are before final payment you should be able to if you booked past guest rate. If you are past final payment or on early saver, probably not.
Mrs CruisinCritter Posted March 2, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted March 2, 2013 Sorry, I forgot to mention that we are still a couple of weeks before final payment, but I paid in full when I booked.

If you booked past guest and before final payment then yes you should be able to downgrade. Does not matter that you paid in full. Call Carnival and they will take care of it...unless you booked with a TA then you will need to call your TA.

Gayle V Posted March 2, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 2, 2013 Pardon my confusion, but why would a "porthole cabin" be considered a downgrade from a " interior on upper deck"? Wouldn't a porthole be an upgrade from any inside ?
Mrs CruisinCritter Posted March 2, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted March 2, 2013 Pardon my confusion, but why would a "porthole cabin" be considered a downgrade from a " interior on upper deck"? Wouldn't a porthole be an upgrade from any inside ? On Carnival, a porthole cabin is classified as a lower class of interior cabin so they are often cheaper than a regular inside and the same price as a cabin with an upper/lower bed config. Mrs CruisinCritter Posted March 2, 2013 Author #8 Share Posted March 2, 2013 Thank you again SATXLady and ready2cruzagain! That was the quickest, easiest phone call I've ever made to the 800#. I was able to downgrade and even got a refund large enough to cover my first DOD!
