cwbabe48 Posted March 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2013 Just off a cruise and our cabin was so close to the MDR it was so nice. We will be on Allure and want to be as close as possible to the MDR. Any suggestions, I am considering 8604. Thanks Marcia
dreamer976 Posted March 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 4, 2013 While 8604 is a great stateroom location (D1 w/deeper balcony), it's not exactly "close" to the MDR. Even the other restaurants that are on deck 8 can only be accessed from the extreme front and rear of Central Park. To get to the MDR, you would walk to the aft elevators/stairs and go down at least 3 flights to deck 5 (My Time Dining only), or decks 3 or 4 for Traditional dining. Remember that the walk from 8604 to the aft elevators on that ship is deceivingly a semi-long one. Looks close on the deck plans, but the ship is huge! I had one of the D1's on the Oasis and speaking as someone with mobility issues, wouldn't choose that category again. I would personally forego the extra depth balcony for something closer to the aft elevator bank on any deck, deck 6 being the lowest w/balconies. Enjoy your cruise. sleepless Posted March 4, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 4, 2013 Book an ocean view balcony cabin on Deck 6, aft of the aft elevators. Great location. Directly above the main dining rooms. Close to Promenade level and Boardwalk activities (obviously). Easy access to Central Park (deck 8) and Casino/Theater/etc on deck 5. I stayed there in July of 2011 on the Oasis, and will be in the same area on our upcoming cruise on the Allure in July of 2013.
