Drive from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale

HMC RET

Recommended Posts

We will be driving from Orlando down to Fort Lauderdale in a rental, are we better off on US 192 TO 95, or should we just pay the rental the use of the sunpass for the turnpike? How much more time will 192 add ? Is it a nice ride ?

I've taken both routes, not really sure how much difference it would be. Probably somewhere around 30-45 minutes. The biggest thing is the stop lights and such until you get out of St. Cloud. After that it's 2 lane most of the way until you hit I-95.

It is a more pleasant drive on the turnpike (a little less congested than I-95), but I wouldn't hesitate to take the 192 way again if I wasn't in a hurry.
